Navigating the New York State Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) certification process can be overwhelming — but you’re not alone. This course is designed to walk you step-by-step through every requirement of the application, helping you prepare a strong, complete, and well-organized submission.
The NYS MWBE application includes approximately 30 required items*, each of which plays a crucial role in proving your business’s eligibility. In this course, each lesson is dedicated to one of these requirements. You’ll receive:
Clear explanations of what each document or item is and why it matters
Sample content and templates to guide you in preparing your materials
Upload prompts to store each completed document in your secure online portfolio
By the time you finish the course, you will have gathered and organized every document needed to apply — no missing pieces, no last-minute scrambling.
*Applicants must submit documents for ALL required items. If a particular item does not apply to the business, the applicant must still submit a document stating that the particular application item does not apply. For example, for the item requesting additional documents, the company can state: “The owners of New Company LLC do not wish to add additional documents.”
Move lesson-by-lesson: Focus on one requirement at a time for steady progress.
Upload as you go: Your portfolio will grow with each step, creating a complete application package.
Refer back anytime: You can revisit any lesson if you need to revise or update a document.
Let’s get started — your NYS MWBE certification is within reach. This guide will help you get there, one step at a time.
